Wharram Tiki 8m catamaran for sale
Our beloved 8,0 x 4,3m trailerable catamaran ‘Frygga’ is for sale. We bought her as almost new in 2009 from the designer/builder in the UK who used her as a promotion boat as she was the first of a new series. We spent our summer holidays on her ever since, our kids grew up on her. We sailed her in our home waters on the IJsselmeer and Waddenzee and also in Croatia, Brittany and the Baltic.
She’s a great boat. She’s elegant inside and out, sails really well, she’s seaworthy because her rig is low, is not demanding in maintenance and is in general very suitable for outdoor/camping style (family) of adventuring all over Europe. She has a shallow draft of 0,55m so you can sail to where the others can’t go. Cruising speed of 6-8 kn is easily achieved and she regularly sails up to 12 kn. If pushed she can sail 15 kn+, I sailed her at 16 kn with a friend. With the 6 hp outboard engine she reached a max. speed of 7 kn. She sails easily and is light at the helm. She can be sailed in strong winds as the mainsail has 3 reefs but also in light wind she is slippery.
Her hulls are sleek but she has a lot of space on deck and is comfortable to live on for longer periods in combination with the deck tent. She has 2 permanent bunks forward in each hull and 2 removable ones which we normally only set up for sleeping. In the hulls is sitting headroom and standing headroom in the hulls and in the cockpit when the deck tent is up. We used the deck tent as our ‘living room’ in harbour or at anchor, but overnight one or two can also sleep there. For daysailing there’s enough space for 6-8 people, for holidays she’s suitable for 2-4 adults or two adults with 2-3 kids max.
